Dear Mr. [A],

I would have liked to write you in other circumstances. I am a very good friend of Savitri Devi Mukherji to whom you write often and send money. For many years I visit her and help her as much as I can. But today I have a bad news concerning her. She got an attack of paralysis on the 30th March. All her right side is paralyzed. She cannot move, she cannot write as her right hand is like dead. She also speaks with little difficulties but she likes to talk about her experiences. She told me to write to all the friends and tell them of her condition. She does not want to go to hospital and she is right. What could they do in hospital? Often one is not well treated there. On the reverse one is neglected when there are too many people. Her eye operation was successful, but she cannot see due to the atrophy of the optic nerve, even for both eyes. She wants to die, but death comes when the time comes, not before. I try to encourage her as best I can. She has a servant very well paid to help her a little and I go daily to visit and stay a few hours with her though I have a lot of work. Anyhow, let us hope she will bear the present state courageously. Physically she does not suffer. But mentally she suffers to see how handicapped she is now.

Please write to me whenever you have time. You may have your own difficulties as everybody has but I will be happy to read your letter to her if you write. She sends her love to you, her thanks and her greeting.

Yours very sincerely,
Viviane M. Hirn

She thanks you for the $200.
