A Photo of One of Savitri’s Friends Has Been Identified

The previously unknown individual in this photo from our galleries of Savitri’s friends has been identified by a reader of this archive, Argo Dasgupta. He is Asit Kumar Haldar (1890-1964), a well-known painter of the Bengali renaissance as well as a poet, and also an assistant to the famous Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore. The date on the photo reads June 24, 1936 (in Bengali script a 4 look like an 8). We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Dasgupta for this this information.
