In later years Savitri claimed that she and her husband, Asit Krishna Mukerji, had engaged in espionage in India for the Japanese during the war. The British authorities suspected this at the time, and a declassified MI7 document has surfaced in which their names appear. The document, “Potentially hostile foreigners,” has been added to the About Her section.
